Toolbar Settings options:
- Annotation pens with strikeout tool
- Dictionary
- Screen masking
- Audio support (also known as text-to-speech)
- Translation (now with even more languages available)
To edit Toolbar settings for your students, please follow the steps below:
- Sign into your Teacher's Edition and click Class/Student Settings.
2. Check one or more users, or the top box to select all, then click Edit Selected Users.
3. A pop up window will appear. Add checks to any Toolbar Support you would like to add, then click Apply Settings.
*Please note, by default all students will have Annotation pens with strikeout tool enabled. If your class is using our Literacy With A Boost solution, the students will automatically have all toolbar supports enabled. These can be turned off for any students at the educator’s discretion.
In order to display the Toolbar within an active lesson, you will need to either:
- double-click within the reading panel (aka the left side of the screen)
- select/highlight text with your cursor
Audio/Read Aloud/Text to Voice Example
If audio support has been enabled, students can also have text read back to them by using the "Read Aloud" button at the top of the lesson. This will cause Play/Pause/Stop buttons to remain active on the screen. You can now adjust the reading speed & volume of the audio playback.
Screenmasking Example
Screenmasking will dim portions of the screen unnecessary to the text currently being read. This feature is recommended for students with dyslexia. The size of the reading area can be adjusted with the plus and minus buttons.
Translate Example
Students can select the language to translate portions of text. Please note that the only language we offer full lesson translation for is Spanish, which must be enabled under Edit Selected Users from the Student Settings page. Some of the languages have a supported voice and can hear the text they’ve selected read aloud.
Highlighting Example
Any highlights made within the program will be saved for the remainder of the current school year. Saved highlights should only be cleared upon the end of the school year.
